Bowling
Green, Kentucky resident, Skip Bethune, is a songwriter who was affiliated
with Woodshed Music and is currently involved in the Bent Ear Music Group
(ASCAP). Bethune toured over seven years with Nashville reggae-ska band
Freedom of Expression, playing major venues such as Tipitinas in New Orleans,
CBGB's in New York City, The Channel in Boston, the Roxy in D.C., the Exit
In in Nashville, the Clevelander in Miami Beach, and Key West venues Margaritaville
and Sloppy Joe's. Freedom of Expression appeared with many popular recording
artists including The Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Inner Circle, Vince Gill, Toots,
and Maytals and others.
Freedom released one critically acclaimed album distributed by RAS Records
and Bethune's songs have been released by Klow, Harvard Square, Re-Hash
Records, BOB records, and DVS Media labels.
Bethune's most recent project, an 11 song original music c.d., "Tornados
and Trailers" by the Deadnecks and CO-produced by songwriter Karl Richards
was released in September 98'. Bethune currently plays solo and with the
Deadnecks and several Deadneck offshoots, featuring Grammy winning dobro
player Curtis Burch and/or keyboardist, accordion player Jeff Yurkowski.
